Medical Care (A-VI/4-2)
Objective
The trainee will be competent to participate effectively in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board.
Target Group
This training programme is intended to meet the requirements set out in Section A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code. To ensure knowledge and techniques required for Medical Care with particular emphasis on practical training. The training programme also meets the requirements of the STCW Code 1995, as amended.
Prerequisites
STCW Medical First Aid course (A-VI/4-1)
Examination
Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified in Section VI/4-2 of the STCW Code, as amended and the IMO Model Course 1.15 by using direct observation and oral/or written questions as appropriate.
The certification will be valid for 5 years.
