Advanced Fire Fighting
Objective
The objective this training course is to deliver competence based training of advanced fire fighting techniques with a particular emphasis on organisation, tactics, command and control.
Target Group
This training course is for those delegates with specific fire fighting duties and responsibilities on board a ship.
Prerequisites
Delegates must be in possession of an STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting OR Watch Rating Certificate (STCW II/4 or III/4) OR AB Certificate (STCW II/5 or III/5) OR UK CEC or UK CoC.
Examination
Training will consist of a mix of theoretical and practical elements and delegates will have to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the course contents.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded an MCA-approved Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting certificate.
Certification is valid for 5 years at which point delegates should undertake the Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting training programme to remain certified.

The course covers the following topics including;
• Revision of basic fire fighting training standards
• Control of fire fighting operations on board ship
• Organisation and training of fire parties
• Inspection and servicing of fire detection/extinguishing equipment
• Investigation and reporting of fire incidents
